SCHOENKE: THE NRA WEBSITE “A BROKEN RECORD,” LAPIERRE “FIRING BLANKS”

Bethesda, MD -- Here we go again. Every four years, the NRA hauls out the same old talking points. No matter who the Democratic candidate for President is, that person is always "the most anti-gun candidate" – ever. Remember the same NRA attacks on Bill Clinton, Al Gore, and John Kerry? But, this year is different. The Supreme Court ruled in the Heller case that gun owners are safe from government imposed gun confiscation. This means the government is once and for all prohibited from banning guns.

The NRA should be rejoicing. The Second Amendment is secure and both presidential candidates have hailed the Heller decision and support the right to keep and bear arms.

But, instead, the NRA leaders are engaged in their usual brand of partisan politics. Pro-gun groups should be focusing on the real issues of concern to America's hunters and shooters like global warming, public access and conservation. Instead, the NRA continues its "chicken little" cry that "the sky is falling" – that if Barrack Obama is elected he will ban your guns. And worst of all, NRA continues to support elected officials who are the worst of the worst when it comes to important conservation issues.

For years NRA leaders have put their own partisan interests first. That isn't going to work this time. America's hunters and shooters know our guns are protected. Now, we want our hunting lands protected. That's where the NRA fails all of us. America's hunters and shooters see through NRA's partisan attacks and are now asking "what good is my gun if there is no place to hunt or shoot?" Go to realhunterrealconservtion.org to find out the truth about NRA supported politicians hell bent on destroying our hunting and shooting heritage.

AHSA's President Ray Schoenke said, "With Heller now the law of the land, Wayne LaPierre is firing blanks with his new website attacking Barak Obama. The site is filled with the same old worn out attacks that gun owners soundly rejected during the primary campaign. The NRA is like a broken record. Gun owners get that Obama will not take their guns and he will fight to protect our hunting and shooting heritage. America's hunters and shooters want action on global warming and access to public lands, not more lies from the NRA.”
